What is a OEM vs After Market car part?

posted in: Motoring Tips, News | 0

At Tickenham Garage, we can supply you with both OEM (Original Equipment Manufactuer) or After Market car parts.

But what is the difference?

Essentially, an OEM Part is produced by the manufacture that made the original part for your vehicle. This means that if you are replacing the part with an OEM one, you are replacing 100% like for like.

After market parts are often produced by a third party. This means they have been licensed and allowed to produce the part and resell it themselves.

After market parts can often be cheaper as they will carry another brand rather than the orginal car manufacturers name.

We can guide you when your looking for a replacement part as to which way to turn, we can also provide you with the price difference so that you are making an informed choice.
